Cosplay Competition Rules and Regulations

BACKSTAGE RULES

​

  1. Please be friendly and respectful. Any disrespect or insults towards the other participants or the organizers will not be tolerated, and the participant will be disqualified and banned from future competitions

  2.  Competitors are requested to remain backstage 15 min before the competition starts.

  3. Only the competitors and people with backstage access are allowed to enter. Competitors are allowed to only have one ‘plus one’ with them

  4. Do not tamper with anyone’s cosplay or props without permission. If a competitor has purposely damaged another competitor’s cosplay, they will be disqualified automatically, Strictly no tolerance for inappropriate behavior onstage or backstage (harassment, loud behavior, etc.). Whether it be to another cosplayer or generally, such behavior will not be tolerated, and you will be disqualified from the competition.

  5. No photographers are allowed backstage unless they have permission. No pictures are allowed to be taken backstage other than personal selfies. Please ask for consent before taking pics with/of other cosplayers

  6. No food or drinks allowed (Except for water)

 DRESS CODE

​

  1. Cosplays should follow the dress code: nothing revealing the chest, rear, or legs. If the cosplay skirt or shorts is too short, please wear full tights under the cosplay. Please keep it PG-13 and respect the UAE public dress code.

 ONSTAGE / SKIT RULES 

​

  1. You must be 13+ to compete. Entrants 13 and under will be designated to a separate competition and must have their parent's permission to enroll.

  2. The skit must be no longer than 2 minutes, Solo competitors only, The Skit act and audio must be PG-13. 

  3. You will be required to bring a flash drive/USB with the same audio and background, 30 minutes max before the competition in case of any technological mishaps. 

  4. No swearing cursing or inappropriate behavior will be tolerated on stage in audio, act, or background. Your audio will be previewed before the performance to ensure it follows the rules. 

  5. By competing in the cosplay competition, you are automatically consenting to photos and videos being taken of you by the public and photographers

  6. Please dress appropriately and follow dress code.

  7. Your skit and act must be no longer than 2 minutes.

  8. All guest cosplayers will not be able to join the competitions

COMPETITION COSPLAY AND PROPS RULES

  1. Competitors must be following the general cosplayer rules.

  2. You need to clearly state your character and the series you’re cosplaying from

  3. All cosplay props must be lightweight, not sharp, and not fake (realistic gun props must have an orange tip)

  4. Bow and arrow props: Bows should have no string or a thin stretchy string. Arrows should have no head (the pointy part)

  5. By competing in the cosplay competition, you are automatically consenting to photos and videos being taken of you by the public and photographers

REGISTRATION RULES

​

  1. Please ensure to register in advance, and before the deadline for participating. Registering during the event is not acceptable. arrive on time for check-in. 

  2. You must be 13+ to register for the adult cosplay competition. If you are under 17, you will need to make your parents aware of your registration and ask for consent.

  3. You must be under 13 to register for the kid's cosplay competition and must have your parents' permission to enroll.

  4. In the registration form, you need to clearly state: your name, character your cosplaying, and from what series. This information will be called out before you go on stage.

JUDGING CRITERIA

​

  1. This competition is friendly and to SEEK FUN! Prepare your gear and skit to have fun on stage! Judges will evaluate your cosplay on accuracy, and overall presentation

  2. The judging points are divided into 50 for a skit, 30 for in-character acting, and 20 for resemblance of the cosplay to the character. 

  3. Prizes will be given to various categories (e.g. Best Skit, Best Performance), Judging is completely unbiased.

 GENERAL COSPLAYER RULES CRITERIA

​Every cosplayer attending the event, whether competing or not, must be following these rules:

  1. All cosplayers regardless of age or gender must be keeping their cosplays PG-13.

  2. Cosplays should follow the dress code: nothing revealing the chest, rear, or legs. If the cosplays skirt or shorts is too short, please wear full tights under the cosplay. Please keep it PG-13 and respecting of the UAE public dress code. You might be requested to leave the event by the event organizers if the rules were not followed
